Tewkesbury Food and Drink Festival 2010

The Tewkesbury Food and Drink Festival is now entering its sixth year and has become an established event on the local and regional food events calendar. The festival will take place on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd May and will be held on the Vineyards, with the beautiful Abbey in the backdrop.

The event is organised by the Borough Council and has received some sponsorship from Gloucestershire Media, BBC Radio Gloucestershire, Heart FM 102.4, Cotswold Style and local businesses.

It has proved to be a great success attracting a high number ofvisitors to take part in the wide range of activities and delights the Festival has to offer.

The organisers of the annual Tewkesbury Food & Drink Festival are very proud to be able to announce that James Martin will be returning again for the 2010 festival. The festival is looking to build on the success of the 2009 event where visitors had a great day out.

Councillor Phil Taylor, Lead Member for Economic Development and Promotion at Tewkesbury Borough Council said "Tewkesbury Borough is proud to announce that the very successful Food Festival will be held again in 2010. It's a great showcase for our many local businesses and we're hoping to attract more than the 12,000 visitors who enjoyed last year's event."

Anna Sanders from the festival team at Tewkesbury Borough Council said "We are delighted to be welcoming James Martin back again for 2010. He was extremely popular in 2009 and so we are very pleased he has agreed to return to our wonderful town! We will be releasing the full programme of events in January but some highlights will include James Martin demonstrations on Sunday 2nd May, a full programme of local chef demonstrations, lots of family fun activities, the return of the very successful craft tent, and, new for 2010, Floral Fiesta with Dutch Master Florist Hans Haverkamp."

We are also on the lookout for any new producers of food and drink who wish to take to exhibit at the Festival and those interested in doing so should contact Katie Power, (Economic Development Officer at Tewkesbury Borough Council) as soon as possible as spaces will fill quickly. We are also inviting Gloucestershire craftspeople to exhibit at the festival for our Craft Hall, so please contact Katie directly on T: 01684 272249 to book your space.

Positive Benefits to the Local Economy

The event has a positive effect on the local economy. Surveys show that although the majority of people visit Tewkesbury specifically to attend the festival they also take the opportunity to have a look around the town. Local businesses have also reported a positive effect, with increased levels of spend and footfall during the festival period.

Festival Opportunities

As well as visiting the Festival there are also a number of other ways you can get involved, such as:

  • Being a stall holder at the event
  • Sponsorship opportunities
  • Advertising
  • Special festival promotions

If you would like further information on the Festival or are a local business interested in getting involved please contact Katie Power, Festival Organiser on 01684 272249 or email: katie.power@tewkesbury.gov.uk
