Retail Business Support Programme

The retail business support programme was one of the first rural renaissance projects to receive funding. It is a 3 year project undertaken by a partnership of Tewkesbury Borough Council, Stroud District Council, Cotswold District Council and Business Link Gloucestershire.

This unique programme principally targets small retail business in each of the 3 local authority areas and offers a service through Business Link that will help such businesses develop, improve and grow.

To do this it employs the use of 'visioncheck' a diagnostic tool which offers a fast informative and graphic version of a business's strengths and weaknesses. This will then be complemented by the use of the quad system which offers a simple financial check.

The combination of these two diagnostic tools enables the development and delivery of a tailored action plan which will focus on:

  • Increasing revenues
  • Reducing costs
  • Continuing improvement within the business.

Following the initial analysis the business will be offered further support over a 12 month period by an account manager who will help to identify specialist support and any training needs.

This service would normally cost £1000 but is being subsidised by the local authorities involved in the project and the South West Regional Development Agency and is now being offered for just £100.

Any small retail business is eligible to apply....but be quick....as signing up to this programme will be on a first come first served basis.
