Local Farmers' Markets

There is currently one Farmers' Market operating in the Borough which takes place in Winchcombe on the third Saturday of each month.

Local farmers' markets boast a wide range of fresh, quality, local produce including beef, lamb, pork, poultry, fish, cheese, cakes, desserts, honey, herbs, jellies, bread, plants, cider, butter, wine, vegetables and fruit.

Why should you shop at a local farmers' market?

  • Improved Levels of Traceability

Farmers' markets provide you with an opportunity to talk to the producers directly and ask them any questions about the products they are selling and how and where they are grown.

  • Increased Environmental Benefits

All the produce is sourced from within a 30 mile radius of the markets so it has not had to travel hundreds of miles, therefore providing increased environmental benefits by cutting down transportation. Packaging is also kept to a minimum because most of the produce has come straight from the farm to you.

  • Support the Local Economy

Buying food at a farmers' market from local producers will also result in more of the 'food pound' being retained in the local economy. The markets also help attract people back to the town centres and help sustain local services.

  • Local Farmers and Rural Businesses Benefit

All the produce sold at  farmers' markets is sold direct by the people who have grown, reared, caught, brewed, baked or processed the produce, therefore eliminating any middlemen.

If you require any further information or if you are interested in having a stall on either of the markets below please contact Grenchurch Market Operators Ltd on 01608 652556.
